Updates

ICWA/MIFPA 2-Day Training Update

Scheduling of all ICWA/MIFPA courses is moving to the Tribal Training and Certification Partnership (TTCP) Opens in new window, who also leads all ICWA/MIFPA trainings available through the Training Academy. Instead of offering different trainings, each with a different course code, there will now be one course: ICWA/MIFPA Foundations (TTCP x101.C). The course title may reflect different audiences, but all ICWA/MIFPA 2-Day Trainings will satisfy the New Worker Training and Motivational Interviewing prerequisites. These courses (both in-person and virtual) will continue to be accessible in our Training Portal, but will also be visible in a new TTCP Training Portal, launching soon. More information is coming soon!

New Worker Training

We now have a page on our website with all information you need to know about New Worker Training, which includes Orientation (self-paced and Enhancement), ICWA/MIFPA 2-Day Training, and Foundations. Learn more.

Foundations Cohort 217 for Supervisors and Directors ONLY

The Training Academy is offering this one-time opportunity for supervisors, managers, directors, and tribal leaders to attend New Worker Foundations training. Learners will need to complete New Worker Orientation (self-paced and Enhancement), will take the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) assessment and attend a follow-up debrief session, and complete the ICWA/MIFPA 2-day training, just as is expected of all new child protection workers. To make this opportunity accessible statewide, the entire Foundations cohort will be held virtually between July 28 - October 29. Learners MUST be able to commit to all training dates and required assignments. New workers cannot participate. If you have questions, contact Nicole Davis at davi4418@umn.edu. Foundations Video Update

Following is our first monthly video update for the launch of New Worker Foundations. More videos are coming throughout the summer.

Minnesota Child Welfare Practice Framework

Child welfare work requires a sophisticated set of knowledge, skills, and attitudes in order to provide effective services to children and families. The Minnesota Child Welfare Practice Framework outlines the competencies required for quality practice among front-line child welfare professionals and their supervisors.
