Save the Date for our Open House!
The Twin Cities Metro Learning Center is planning to host an Open House on Thursday, September 22 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. If you plan to be in the area that day, we hope you'll stop by. RSVP here. More details will be available soon. Open House celebrations will also take place at each of the Regional Learning Centers sometime in Spring 2023. Look for information about those early in the new year.


July was National BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month

Last month we shared a blog post about BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, which was created to highlight the unique challenges that Black, Indigenous, and People of Color face related to mental health in the United States. Curriculum Update
The new Mandated Reporter Training will be available starting August 22. This is a self-paced learning module that is designed for professionals identified by law to make a report if there is suspected or known child maltreatment. This training will feature videos, quizzes, and activities that can be completed online. The previous training was located on the DHS website, but will soon be hosted through the Training Academy.

Go to our website, www.mnchildwelfaretraining.com, and then log-in to the Training Portal using the top-right navigation. New Worker Training


Child Welfare Foundations Training (CWTA X100)
Foundations training is only for new county and tribal workers who are involved in child protection, and is assigned by a supervisor or tribal leader through the Training Portal. Participants must be able to attend all dates/times.

Registration Change Starting with Cohort 98: The NTI self-paced online training, which previously was built into each Foundations cohort, is now a separate course. Supervisors can assign this to new workers, or have new staff register on their own, as it is still a requirement for completing foundations. Look for the National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training Initiative (NTI) CW Professionals (CWTA X401) course in the Training Catalog.

Attendance

Trainees who miss more than 30 minutes of any given training will not receive CEUs; for required training you will need to repeat the entire course.

Learner Experience Specialist

Bonnie has over 15 years of Customer Service, mostly in the government sector, and worked for the City of Minneapolis for 10 years and DHS P-EBT Call Center for one year. Her main responsibility was phones and assisting parents with filling out the electronic web form. She also coordinated the language workflows documents and assisted in the development of and conducted training for new hires. Learn more...
 
Other Training and Webinars
SSIS Coffee Talks
The SSIS Business Operations and Training unit at DHS has announced that two coffee talks have been added to the SSIS events calendar for August 23 and September 20. Both are scheduled from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Registration is required and will close one hour prior to the event. Webinars will be recorded and posted for future reference.

Tribal Training and Certification Partnership (TTCP)

2022 Child Abuse Summit
: August 22-24
This hybrid Summit is an opportunity to learn about the identification and treatment of child abuse and neglect from both regional and national experts. Learn more on their website.

Phoenix Learning Xchange (PLX)
PLX is an interactive, multidisciplinary, non-credit certificate program, which aims to broaden the knowledge of the development, challenges, positive engagement and wellbeing of youth and adolescents involved in the child welfare and other systems. There are still open seats. Due to low registration numbers, the Rochester cohort will be moving to the Twin Cities on Mondays.
