Intercultural Assessment Pilot Launch Temporarily DelayedThe Training Academy has decided to delay implementation of the IDI Pilot for Cohort 106 as planned. This decision is based upon recent changes in staff capacity as well as complications due to timing and scheduling. We are still committed to incorporating the IDI assessment and development plan as an important part of our new worker training and are making plans to reschedule the IDI Pilot this year. We thank you for your partnership and patience.

National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training Initiative (NTI) CW Supervisors (CWTA X401)
NTI for Child Welfare Supervisors is a 25-hour, web-based training that focuses on case work practices and professional skills for staff across the child welfare continuum to promote child well-being, permanency, and family stability for children living with foster, adoptive, or guardianship families.

New Worker Training
Child Welfare Foundations Training (CWTA X100)
Foundations training is only for new county and tribal workers who are involved in child protection, and is assigned by a supervisor or tribal leader through the Training Portal. Participants must be able to attend all dates/times. Remind your employees that they still need to enroll in a course even after you assigned it to them. Learn more here. NTI Modules: The NTI self-paced online training, which previously was built into each Foundations cohort, is now a separate course. Supervisors can assign this to new workers, or have new staff register on their own, as it is still a requirement for completing Foundations. Look for the National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training Initiative (NTI) CW Professionals (CWTA X401) course in the Training Catalog. New workers need to complete NTI before the end of Classroom 4.

Attendance
Learners who miss more than 30 minutes of training will not receive credit. Learners who miss more than 30 minutes of Foundations (new worker) training will need to repeat that specific classroom. If the training takes place over several days, you can only miss 30 minutes total; not 30 minutes per day. Please plan ahead to adjust court dates, on-call shifts, caseload
responsibilities, etc.

SSIS Coffee Talk
The SSIS Business Section at DHS will be hosting the SSIS Coffee Talk about the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS) 101 on Tuesday, March 21 at 9:00 a.m. Presenters will be sharing the history of AFCARS, new elements, penalties, repository, bulletins, and more. All State and agency SSIS users are welcome. Registration is required and will close one hour prior to the event.

Duluth Thrives Resiliency Summit 2023
The Shift Our Brains: Practices to Unravel the Impact of Trauma and Create Community Resilience half-day summit is on Saturday, March 25 from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Conference
Center in Duluth. The cost is $20 with options for in-person or online, and a Certificate of Attendance will be provided. Visit the Junior League of Duluth website to register and learn more.
Permanency Regional Training
The DHS Permanency Support Unit staff will hold permanency trainings at the Regional Learning Centers across Minnesota. Each training will be in person; space will be limited to the room size at each location. These offerings are designed for county and tribal child welfare and/or child protection workers. CASCW Spring Conference
This annual conference will focus on Interdisciplinary Collaboration in Child Welfare, and will take place on Thursday, May 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Delta Hotel by Marriott in Minneapolis. There is no cost to attend, lunch will be provided, and there are free MN BOSW-approved CEUs available. Registration is coming soon. Learn more...
2023 Child Abuse Summit: Tips from the Team
This event on July 24-26 in the Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis is an opportunity to learn about the identification and treatment of child abuse and neglect from both regional and national experts. The Summit is designed to provide professionals from all disciplines with the knowledge, tools, and skills to identify and treat all types of child maltreatment, including physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. Parenting Done Differently: Parents with Disabilities Podcast
The Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW) recently released another episode in this series on Understanding the Intersection of Parenting, Disabilities within First Nations Communities (Part 2, Episode 15), which discusses the law pertaining to the rights of parents with disabilities and the intersection of parenting, disability, and the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA). The Training Academy is seeking applicants for Metro Staff Trainers (2 open positions) to provide support, direction, and coordination for the delivery of new worker and new supervisor foundation training, and as needed, specialized social worker, and resource family training. Applicants should have three (3) years professional experience in a public child welfare agency (county or tribal) that provides child protection services directly to children and families. Closing Date: 03/16/2023.
