MNCWTA R.E.A.D. Book Club Registration
The Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy Reflect. Educate. Act. Discuss. (MNCWTA R.E.A.D.) book club is an opportunity to further our commitment and work in child welfare through reading, discussing and reflecting on books and articles so that we are able to take actionable steps to create change.

We have selected the book A Good Time for the Truth: Race in Minnesota, a collection of essays written by various Minnesota authors and edited by Sun Yung Shin as our first R.E.A.D. project. Meetings will be held via Zoom every other week on Thursday mornings from 11:30-12:30, beginning February 11, 2021 through May 6, 2021.  A reading guide with journaling prompts will be provided to help focus the lens toward our field of work. On meeting days, members will participate in large and small group discussions to reflect on the reading through conversations and identify action that we can take to build a more equitable Child Welfare System.

CEU's are available.

The book is available for free in electronic format at multiple Minnesota Public Libraries, including Hennepin County Library, Ramsey County Library, Great River Regional Library, and Duluth Public Library. The book is also available for purchase at all major book retailers, but we would encourage you to explore one of Minnesota's independently owned bookstores as an alternative.
