Training Academy email header
,

As you may have seen in our most recent monthly newsletter, this January we are launching the Training Portal, a new application to centralize registration, learning records, and course information for all trainings offered by the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy (MNCWTA). This new system will be used by all Minnesota county and tribal workers for child welfare training that was previously scheduled through TrainLink.

During the week of January 10, you will receive an email with instructions on how to set up your Training Portal account (this does not apply to anyone who participated in our recent pilot trainings; if you have already set up a Training Portal account, you can ignore this step). If you have questions about this or anything related to the Training Portal, just let us know at portal@mnchildwelfaretraining.com.

Once your account is finalized and approved, you will be able to register for any child welfare training that we offer. But more importantly, as a supervisor, you will be able to assign training and monitor training progress for your employees. For example, from your Training Portal account, you will invite new workers to create their portal accounts, and then you will assign them to the New Worker/Foundations training (currently this is handled by emailing with our staff). Features like this will provide supervisors more oversight for their employees’ training and create connections to help build and monitor worker competencies.

After supervisor portal accounts have been created, we will then ask you and other supervisors to begin inviting workers to create their Training Portal accounts (we will email you on January 18 with this reminder and instructions). Our staff will approve those accounts as quickly as possible, and will be available during working hours to answer questions, troubleshoot issues, etc. In case you missed it, this blog post has more information about the new Training Portal.

Thank you in advance for your patience as we make this transition. We are excited about the features and benefits that will come with this new system; and, as with all of our efforts, we hope the Training Portal will contribute to an improved and valuable training experience. As always, feel free to contact us with your questions or feedback.

Sincerely,

Liz Snyder and Tracy Crudo
